Staying current on purpose
The churn record on one page, a standing weekly librarian run over the primary sources, and the exit exam — rebuild this harness for a different industry in a weekend.
- Internalize why every page here carries an as-of date
- Make staying current a standing job rather than a scramble
- Prove the pattern transfers by rebuilding it for a new industry
Everything you built rests on facts that move. That is not a warning; it is the working condition of this job, and the way to survive it is to make currency a habit rather than an emergency.
The churn is real and recent. Custom agents were renamed from chat modes —
.chatmode.md became .agent.md⊙ . The demo
portal CDX became MDX⊙ . The packaged financial-services
cloud solutions were deprecated into platform guidance⊙ .
MCP’s transport moved to streamable HTTP⊙ . Every one of
those happened inside about eighteen months, and every one would have quietly
broken a demo built on the old shape.
So the librarian runs on a schedule — a standing weekly pass over the release plans, the changelogs, and the editor’s release notes, reporting what changed and what it touches in your harness. Staying current is a documented job with an owner (an agent) and a cadence (weekly), not a panic the morning a customer mentions a feature you have not heard of.
Why the as-of date is the whole discipline
Every page of this manual carries a date because a fact without one is a liability. The date tells a reader exactly when to start distrusting a claim, and it turns “is this still true?” from an anxiety into a lookup. When you refresh a fact, you edit the fact pack first and the prose second — the claim flows through one source, and the date moves with it. That is the difference between a manual that ages gracefully and one that quietly becomes wrong.
The exit exam
Here is the test of whether you learned the pattern rather than the example: take this harness — the roster, the skills, the instruction stack, the dual-track engagement shape — and rebuild it for a different industry in a weekend. Manufacturing, healthcare, the public sector; a different dossier, a different data model, a different demo. If the harness transfers, the pattern was real. If it does not, you memorized Contoso. The whole point was the pattern.
In the field
Schedule the librarian’s weekly run and read its first report. Then sketch — one page — how you would repoint this harness at an industry you know. You are done when the sketch reuses the agents and rewrites only the dossier.
